Annual Symposium of the Society of Core Analysts - 2019

We will be presenting a poster and summary oral presentation at the Annual Symposium of the Society of Core Analysts in Pau, France on 26-29th August 2019. The talk is entitled 'Inverse modelling of nano- to macro-scale voidage within tight-oil shale'.

Cluster analysis - 2019

Percolation measurements - mercury porosimetry, porometry and soil water retention - do not reveal the volumes of large voids surrounded by smaller connections.  The new and exciting PoreXpert cluster analysis now identifies features which are likely to be clusters of smaller voids within larger void zones, and estimates the sizes of the smaller voids  inside each cluster, see Transport in Porous Media September 2018.  It is now much the most powerful inverse modeller for all types of percolation data.  The new approach has been incorporated into a developer version of PoreXpert for rigorous testing,  and should be generally available later this year.   It is currently being used in major research and consultancy projects for better understanding the void structure of the graphite cores within the UK's ageing nuclear reactor fleet, shale from a tight oil play currently being fracked, porous carbon battery electrode separators and soil with different tillage histories. If you have mercury porosimetry, porometry and soil water retention results that need interpretation, then please contact us for consultancy or academic collaboration.
  • Next conference demonstration and presentation - Society of Core Analysts (SCA) Annual Symposium, Pau, France, 26-230th August 2019.

Recent applications for PoreXpert - 2017

EGU Vienna, April 2017. An integrated, cross-disciplinary study of soil hydrophobicity at atomic, molecular, core and landscape scales. Oral presentation.

EDF Energy nuclear graphite conference, Manchester University, April 2017. Structure and radiolytic oxidation of gilsocarbon graphite at the pore-level. Oral presentation.

Many of the uses of PoreXpert by our customers remain confidential. However, the university of Queensland has allowed us to report that they are using the software to model the water flood of coal to produce coal gas. They have purchased a user support package, and we are therefore helping them set up the model.

PoreXpert in Japan - October 2014

PoreXpert was invited by MicrotracBEL, Japan's leading company in particle analysis and adsorption technology equipment, to present at the seminar on gas-adsorption techiques and the characterization of porous materials, organized in Osaka, Japan, in October 2014. PoreXpert's features and capabilities were introduced to an audience of around 50 attendees from some of Japan's largest companies and Universities.

PoreXpert was also presented to Prof. Matsukata and to a group of PhD students and post-doctoral researchers from his research group (www.matsukata-lab.jp) at Waseda University, Tokyo, Japan.

PoreXpert at Building Test Expo 2014 - June 2014

PoreXpert will be in Brussels, Belgium, from 17th to 19th June 2014 for Building Test Expo 2014. We will present the results of a new application of PoreXpert: the modelling of weathering of building materials on the 19th of June at 2:00pm. If you would be interested in receiving a copy of the presentation given during the event, please contact a member of our PoreXpert support team.

We hope that you can come and visit us during the event, to ask any questions you may have or receive free demonstrations of the software. Find us at stand C6.

PoreXpert appeared at COPX 2014 - May 2014

The PoreXpert recently collaborated on a poster presented at the 10th International Symposium on the Characterization of Porous Solids (COPS-X) held in Granada, Spain from the May 11th to 14th, 2014. The work was carried out by the EFMG group at Plymouth University in collaboration with Thermo-Fisher Scientific who presented the work at the event - A link the work presented can be found here.

Other events that PoreXpert will be attending include Building Test Expo held from the 17th-19th of June 2014 in Brussels, Belgium; and the The Filtration Society 50TH Anniversary conference held in Chester on the 13th and 14th of November 2014.
