Analytical Research Facility

The Analytical Research Facility (ARF) is based within the School of Geography, Earth, and Environmental Sciences, at Plymouth University. The facility, which started in 1980, has achieved international recognition as a ‘centre of excellence’ for chemical measurements. ARF is now managed under ISO9001:2008 certification.

As well as more routine laboratory analysis we engage in primary research into new analytical chemistry methodologies. This knowledge is then applied to solve problems for a international large client base, which includes major industries, SME’s, government agencies, charities, universities and individual researchers.

Our laboratories use state-of-the-art instrumentation housed in a purpose built suite of laboratories. Our particular expertise is in Elemental Speciation, the measurement of specific chemical forms in a wide variety of matrices, including Environmental, Biological, Industrial and Clinical sample types.

We offer a full, bespoke, consultation service, from the initial project concept through to final delivery, and prefer to work closely with our clients to ensure total customer satisfaction.
